Moroccan style apartment
The world experience of colonization by the west of the east did not pass without a trace for culture. It was perfectly reflected in architecture and decor. The “Moroccan style” beloved by designers recently is vivid confirmation of this. After all, if we analyze all its main components, then in addition to nationally Muslim trends, the influence of European masters is traced here. In particular, French motifs are noticeable.
But, of course, the Berber notes give the main charm to this type of interior. The nomadic way of life, the traditional “obscure” windows of their houses, the interweaving of the grace of oriental ornaments and the peculiar stinginess of the decor create a unique mood. Such a design is unlikely to ever get bored. And the best part is the opportunity to recreate it in an ordinary city apartment.
First of all, special attention should be paid to decoration. Replace classic European arched openings with exquisitely curved oriental ones. Smooth lines and clear contours of external surfaces should prevail here. The walls should be covered with light stucco, of course, it should be adapted to the conditions of the apartment. You can use beige and peach tones. Pictures and photographs as decoration elements are not acceptable. Instead, you can create a colorful mosaic panel on one side of the room.
Particular attention should be paid to furniture. In prosperous Moroccans, it is covered with exquisite complex carvings, which indicates the high status of the owner. Wardrobes are traditionally low; various sofas, poufs, armchairs should be placed in abundance. Multi-colored pillows with African paintings should be scattered on them in unlimited quantities. Cover the armrests of the sofas with covers with woolen tassels.
Add a pair of dark wood chests also decorated with carvings to your new interior. This will add a special touch to the design. It is not excluded the use of forged openwork decoration elements. They, like the tree, are very revered by Moroccans. With such skillful curls, bedspreads of camel wool in brown tones and snow-white pillows of different sizes and shapes will work well.
In the classical traditions of the style, tiles are used as flooring, but in a city apartment it can easily be replaced with dark wood. Top should be laid carpet with geometric patterns. It can be of any color and size.
