Wall insulation with foam

Today, the insulation of the outer sides of buildings using foam is very popular, due to its effectiveness, simplicity and relative cheapness. Many construction companies offer wall insulation services for new homes during the construction phase, old buildings and multi-story buildings. Warming the walls with foam will help to save on electricity and gas, which are necessary for heating the room in winter. In addition, the foam helps cool the walls in the summer, which is also important for a comfortable stay in an apartment or house.

Preparatory work on wall insulation with foam

At its core, wall insulation with polystyrene is a finishing work, therefore, it also requires surface preparation. First, the walls are leveled and cleaned from the protruding solution. The painted surface is chemically or thermally treated so that the necessary high adhesion to the wall surface occurs.

If somewhere there is a detachment of the plaster or voids, then it is necessary to plaster the problem areas. Clean the surface of the walls from dust and dirt with water and apply a deeply penetrating primer.

Foam Mount

To align the work plane and securely attach the first row of foam, it is necessary to establish a start profile. The foam is glued to the wall surface using special dry mixes that are diluted with water in the proportions specified in the instructions.

Using a low-speed drill, the resulting solution is mixed and allowed to infuse for several minutes. After this, the solution is again stirred. The resulting mixture can be used in one and a half to two hours. Depending on the depth of the differences on the wall, the adhesive can be applied with a notched trowel to the entire surface, in stripes or spot beacons.

Installation of foam sheets occurs from the bottom up to the start profile. Sheets are laid out with "brickwork" to avoid cracks. The gaps between the sheets should be kept to a minimum.

After the glue dries, the foam is fixed using thermal dowels with plastic studs. Holes are made in the middle of the foam sheet and at its corners.

Foam surface reinforcement

To protect the foam from negative influences, make it reinforced. Using a special reinforcing mixture, a fiberglass mesh is applied to the surface of the foam, creating a single coating of insulation. The reinforcing mixture is applied in two layers to qualitatively eliminate various irregularities.

Insulation

When the reinforcing layer is completely dry, a surface is primed. After that, you can do the decoration of the insulation, which consists in applying mineral, acrylic or silicone decorative plaster. After that, the surface is painted with a special facade paint.

How long the foam insulation will last for a long time depends on the quality of the work performed, therefore it is better to trust professionals and trusted craftsmen.
